Hello, please let me introduce myself. I'm Ali Oitker, the Western High School History teacher. This is the
beginning of my 10th year in teaching. My previous 9 years of teaching have been at the junior high level.
So I am excited and nervous to be moving to the high school.
I grew up in Barry and graduated from Barry High School in 1995. I attended Quincy University and received a Bachelor
of Arts degree in History.
I have 2 brothers: Nathan and Coy. 4 Nieces: Paige, Haleigh, Skylar, and Emma. 3 Nephews: Brett, Logan, and
Samuel. My husband Eric and I have lived in Barry all our life. We completed and moved into our new house
in 2002. My husband owns and operates Oitker Ford Sales in Barry and Pittsfield. We very recently lost our almost 13
year old yellow lab Jake. So we are a little lost at home without him. We do have 3 cats: Kitty, Henry Ford, and George
(a girl cat, who lives in our garage). We LOVE watching Kansas Chiefs football. Once football season starts we
can be found every Sunday at home watching the game. We are truly obsessed with the CHIEFS!
This summer we took 2 vacations. We spent the first weekend of the summer in Kansas City at the Chiefs Mini
Camp and from there we flew to Biloxi, Mississippi to spend a couple of days relaxing by the pool. The end of June we
went to San Antonio, Texas for the NECC Conference. 4 other teachers from our district also attended as part of the
E2T2 Technology Grant. Due to the flooding in the beginning of the summer, we have spent only a few weekends at
the Mississippi River this year. It hasn't really felt like summer since we haved been able to relax along the
river.
Summer has just flown by this year. BUT that means it is time for football. GO
CHIEFS!
